DollarTree

Are you always looking for ways to organize and decorate your home to be Pinterest worthy? Do you fancy yourself in amazing thrift store finds? Then these are the hacks for you!

If you’re like me, you always like finding a deal and don’t want to spend more than you have to on everyday home items. You also don’t want to be spending a fortune redecorating every season, but you want to keep up with the latest trends!

Here are 9 things you are overspending on that you could be getting at the Dollar Tree.

1. Cups, Plates, and other Dishware

The Dollar Tree carries a wide selection of glass and ceramic plates, bowls, drinking glasses, mugs, and more. I have purchased several items that have held up extremely well, even better than my Ikea dishware! They rotate seasonally decorated items as well. Some of my favorite glasses have autumn leaves on them! It’s nice to be able to switch things up on a budget.

2. Tupperware, Ziplock Bags, and Metal Foil Pans

Whenever I go to parties and potlucks, I love to bring some homemade yummy food! I also find myself making casseroles and baked goods for friends and family quite often. But, I find it a hassle to dish out (no pun intended) my own Pyrex and casserole dishes and desiring them to be returned. Instead, I like to have a bunch of metal foil pans and different sized Tupperware on hand to give out that I don’t need back.

3. Dish & Hand Towels

I love having holiday-themed hand towels for my kitchen and bathrooms! The Dollar Tree carries seasonal ones for Easter, Christmas, and Fall! I also like their solid colored hand towels and washrags that are made of microfiber material. They are great to wipe down the kitchen counter and to dry dishes! And, they are cheap enough to have several sets to use and wash more often.

4. Plastic & Metal Storage Containers

To help you achieve that Pinterest-perfect organized house, the Dollar Tree carries containers in all shapes and sizes for medicine cabinets, under the sink, and for office supplies! I also love their metal and plastic trash bins that I can put all over the house.

5. Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, and Soap

I like to change my toothbrushes often, and we go through a lot of toothpaste and soap because we use it every day! The Dollar Tree carries a lot of the same name brands you see at the grocery store such as Colgate and Dove!

6. Travel Containers & Toiletries

When you travel often it is much easier to have smaller compact containers to take in your carry-on bag or checked bag. Rather than lugging your large bottles of shampoo, hair products, and lotion, you can get all different twist top containers, spray bottles, and mini shampoo containers. This will save you a fortune from not having to buy the small versions of your favorite brands from CVS or Ulta.

7. Kitchen Utensils

We all like to have those pretty matching kitchen utensils sitting on our counters, but often times these sets don’t have everything we need (or didn’t know we needed!). There are utensils I find myself reaching for all the time, but they might still be dirty from lunch or the day before. I like getting a few of the same thing (in different colors) from the Dollar Tree. They have a plethora of silverware, spatulas, mini tongs (my favorite), pot holders, and whisks just to name a few. I recently had a group of friends over for a game night and we wanted to play the card game “spoons“. I bought a few packs of metal spoons from the Dollar Tree and we had a blast! And, I didn’t have to worry about my good silverware getting scratched or bent.

8. Greeting Cards & Party Supplies

I love myself a good party, but would rather spend my money on presents than on one-time decorations! You can get all different colored streamers, cups, plates, balloons, and even helium-filled balloons all for a dollar! It’s also great to pick up a quick get well soon or wedding card!

9. Pet Toys & Treats

I love spoiling my little fur-baby! My beagle will eat ANYTHING, and toys never last very long. You can pick up other dog and cat essentials like food and water bowls, collars and leashes, treats and rawhides, cat litter scoops, and dog waste bags. My puppy’s favorites are the peanut butter filled bones and bacon strips!

And kids’ toys…my kids are just as happy or happier with little toys and trinkets from the dollar store as they are with “real” (more expensive) toys!
